So 5 years ago my Dodge Cummins water jacket cracked from the known defect in the casting. However, I pulled the engine and had it rebuilt. Cost me $5000 and I reinstalled it. Now has nearly 100,000 on it and getting broke in. Was given quoat from dealer for new installed, $13,000. 5 years ago prices. Yes a turbo can be near 2 grand, but labor shouldn't be much. Still those prices your mechanic gave are high. Time for a second opinion. Your post is a little confusing. I based my reply on comparison to other reply's.
