Cummins CAC

Anyone know what a CAC for an ISC Cummins will set a guy back...$$$$-wise?
  • I was at an FMCA rally once and a seminar guy told us that you cannot tell what type of coolant you have by color. Based on that and what I have seen, I do believe he wasn't throwing BS. I use the Fleetguard EAS Compleat and it is blue for whatever it is worth. I have never seen any red stuff.

What about your CAC? Any luck? Oil cooler attached? I'd look at mine but the coach is in Oregon getting an interior face lift.

Here is another place I found in my bookmarks that does coolers http://www.cgj.com/store/category/charge-air-coolers

Don: Proof that you can learn something every day.

I finally got a Cummins tech guy nailed to the floor to explain something. Some say their long life coolant is RED....my own experience was the long life stuff I bought was bright BLUE. Guess what??

They have extended life ( long life) coolants of BOTH COLORS!:E I wont go into all the foo-fa ra as he explained it but either works fine he told me and the red "seemed" to last about 6 months longer. Im putting the blue stuff back in and that way I wont have to doa total, complete drain and flush twice to get the "red" stuff out.

They sure dont make it easy on a guy to publish and open explain this stuff prior to buying it!

$1400 PLUS the engine oil cooler thats made onto it is another $1250..!!!!!!!!:E

When I had my radiator replaced, they removed the radiator, CAC and associated fan stuff as one unit. I don't remember seeing any oil cooler or any oil hoses running to it.

    Have you checked here? http://detroitradiatorcorp.com/catalog/product/charge-air-coolers/

They told me my oil cooler was attached to the CAC..? I'll find out for sure once Cummins gets the thing yanked out so we can see whats what

  • Sulley2 do you have the measurements of your old one? You might call Banks and see if the ones they sell might work.

  • Sully,

Country Coach, not Cummins speced and had built the CAC. I would start by checking with the CC repair place out in Oregon to see who they sourced it from.
