I took the MH to Rocky Mountain Cummins yesterday and they said there was no way to replace the 2 heater hoses that run front to back on our Spartan chassis. The hoses run thru the chassis tubular steel and can't be replaced. They are 12 yrs old and I had a rear heater hose break on last winters trip and want to replace the rest of them. Has anyone had this kind of problem?

You mean they can't attach the new to the old and pull it through while pulling out the old one. Like snaking a wire. Sounds like they just didn't want to do it

I am about to have to replace a hydraulic hose (Just now said hose has nothing to do, it is NOT a brake or safety related hose.. But when I pulled the jack it was attached to the end broke on the hose so I need to pull it, take it to a hose guy and have him put a new end on it).Sometimes when they run 'em along they ZIP tie stuff together, if you can not get to all the ZIP ties you have a problem.Sometimes (Epically if its run in conduit) they don't zip tie 'em.How did they do yours? I have no clue.

Yes, they can be replaced but it is an extremely labor intensive job. You have to access the inside storage bay areas where the frame rail runs thru. You then have to dig out the sealant they used at different access points thru the frame C channel and make access holes to run the new hoses. This is the same thing that would have to be done if one of the Dash AC hoses needed replaced. Either they have people that are not trained to do the job or they do NOT want to do the job. I would estimate that it would take up to 10 hours to do the job correctly. Doug

Call Spartan and ask how it is done. Probably put on by the chassis manufacturer or coach builder so Cummings may not have the knowledge on how to do it

The wires and hoses are run BEFORE they complete the chassis build and the RV maker then installs either foam or a heavy silicone type sealant at various points along the C channel from front to rear that makes it impossible to use a original wire or hose to snake it thru. ALL the hoses and wiring is also wire tied about every 18 to 24 inches from front to rear. Doug

Had my fuel lines replaced this winter. Four men and two day to get it done. It can be done but a goodly amount of labor.

I had to replace a hydraulic hose on my previous coach on a FL chassis. The hose ran from near the front of the coach all the way to the back slide room. It was bundled together with other hoses, wires, air lines running inside the frame rail. It was a messy, time consuming, four-letter-word-producing process. I can't imagine how much time it would take to replace those hoses that run from front to back on these things. It can certainly be done but it will be labor intensive for sure.

Had to have hose replaced for my power steering on my Spartan chases. A truck repair shop did it and yes it was expensive, but what isn't.

I have never looked at a Spartan, my comment was for Freightliner and I assumed Spartan was the same way. Then the new hoses would have to be run and attached on the inside of that boxed channel. They would be seen if you looked inside, but that is not a problem. Doug

Run longer hoses along the floor under the coach from front to back and attach with padded clamps. 2 hour job. No one will ever see them but you. Problemo solved.
