Cycling Shurflo Smart Sensor pump

Our Smart Sensor water pump, #4900-0201, cycles briefly every 30 seconds or so. It is a short burst each time, approximately 1 second. I assume there is some grit in one of the valves or something similar, but have not purchased any repair parts or torn it down yet. Anyone have some guidance on this. We are on the road so I want to only pull the pump one time to make the fix if I can. Maybe I don't need new parts, rather clean it out?
  • Purchased the cap last night and will block off pump outlet today and see if cycling stops. Will then know if problem is in the delivery system or the pump. Will advise.
  • Okay, the cycling continued with the output capped off. Problem is in pump. So has anyone been inside a Smart Sensor pump and been able to clean out the valves, passages, etc. and restore it to satisfactory working order?

I had the 5.7 model. I ordered a new valve assembly for $40 but unfortunately it still leaked backwards so I had to replace the entire pump. Sucks to have wasted forty bucks on valves. I replaced mine with the Remco 55AQUAJET-ARV Aquajet RV Variable Speed Water Pump.

And are you happy with that new pump?

Yes I am. It was the closest thing to the Smartflo 5.7 that I could find as far as variable flow and lots of it. The cheapest place I found it was on a site called freshwatersystems.com sells for $156 you can read reviews on it there.
