The battery will last for a couple of hours but it has a mini usb charger that works with 12VDC or 110VAC. In addition you can set it to loop the recording on the SD card. Depending on the size of your SD card and the video quality setting, the card can hold 15-20 hours of video prior to looping. The video is great quality and I have found a lot of other uses for the camera. They have a website that is pretty informative if your interested.
