But, there are campsites for the disabled in some state parks.
And national parks and private RV parks.
Having a handicapped plate on the RV satisfies any question about your using those spots.
Otherwise the campground host should ask to see documentation of your disability.
That's what we've been instructed to do as hosts at both a national park campground and a state park campground. - bsinmichExplorerIn MI you can only get 1 handicapped plate and also a hang tag. I have the plate on my Vue because I forgot a couple of times to hang the tag and got lucky. I use the hang tag in my Roadtrek.
- G7ARYMExplorerIn CA a veteran with a 100% service connected disability can have one vehicle covered by the state for no charge. My Super C is considered a house car for registration purposed and thus covered. My plate has a DV designation which is different from other disabled plates with a DP on them which may need to be paid for.

Is there any advantage or reason to have handicap plates on a Class C motorhome?
Yes. At Walmart Supercenters you can park up close in a Class C if you can find a parallel space to pull-in. Also, you'll not be hassled in other situations where you're parking up close to the front of any handicapped parking lots. - OldmeExplorerHave them on mine.

In California, you save a bunch on registration fees if you get the handicapped PLATE instead of the hang tag....Dennis
California DMV told me there are no reduction in registration fees on motorhomes with handicap plates. Did I miss something? Pick-ups drop the weight fees when they have handicap plates. Motorhomes do not have weight fees in California to begin with.
This may be correct as I found out about the reduction while paying my registration fee for my pickup....so check with the DMV for your particular situation.....Dennis - leeperExplorer

When I was parking my rv I sometimes used the wider handicap parking spot and that is ok here in BC, Canada. I have seen other rvers using a handicap parking spot for their rv when going shopping etc. We still had to hang our handicap permit on the rear view mirror or on the dash. Just about any B van can fit into a regular parking spot or, better yet, if you have a mobility problem, you can use the handicap spot. I don't know if that is the same in the USA.

I believe that in California they plan on eliminating the free parking for handicapped placards. The thinking is just because you are entitled to the plates doesn't mean you
can't afford to pay parking fees. - D_E_BishopExplorerA quick comment on California's using handicap plates or hanging plaques. This may be overridden by a HOA, I don't know but my tire man has had hassles from the parking people and police without the plaque or plate when parked in front of his house. Now that he has HP plates on his Motorhome, no more notices from the parking folks or police.
When we travel we use my plate in the RV and my DWs plate in the towed. Some parks give discounts some don't, some states do also. I know Myers Flat Unit 2 SP in the redwoods has several spots for handicapped.
