- Dale_TravelingExplorer III 'm not much a camp fire fan during heat of summer so no I don't carry wood. Spring and fall when the evening temps make a fire a bit more enjoyable I'll buy local or camp ground wood.
- 1ofmanyExplorerLike many, I understand that many places/states prohibit transporting wood...most of the campgrounds we stay at post signs reminding campers of this requirement.
- booty51Explorerno fire wood, carry charcoal though
- TNGW1500SEExplorerWe use scrap lumber. No bugs.
- Mile_HighExplorerNEVER again for me. Bought some in South Dakota back in 2003 and threw the extra bundle in the basement of our 5th wheel. It had mice and they had a nice childhood over the winter in our 5er and did a lot of damage. It took us 2 years to finally lose the guy or guys.

I was visiting a friend that was in town staying at a local CG. His neighbor was unloading fire wood from one of the storage bins of his Class A. Maybe it's just me, but living in Florida I'd be afraid of termites. Anyone else do this?
The emerald ash borer is currently the disease du jour. Some states have instigated some heavy fines for anyone transporting unprocessed wood.
If you want to bring your own wood check with some local builders to get the scrap wood from a building project. - StraboExplorerI carry in the bed of our truck, never in the hauler storage.

I do carry scraps of 2x lumber for starting fires. I usually buy the firewood near where we stay.

Most States and Provinces DO not allow fire wood from outside, some places such as I believe was Vermont says firewood may not be transported more than 50 miles. - msmith1199Explorer IITo answer the OP's question, NO, but not just because of termites, there could be all kinds of bugs in the wood and even some mice may hide in there while you load the wood in. My toad is a pickup so the times I have carried firewood, it goes in the bed of the truck.
- RoyBExplorer III used to bring enough wood for the first fire from home so we would have fire logs if we got in too late to catch the camp store open...
I was asked one time if I brought in firewood by the ranger and had to burn what I had right away. Of course that was what I was going to do anyway...
SO we finally stopped bringing it in - Like to follow all of the rulles...
I do carry a bag of kindle wood however either purchaes or cut from scraps from home...
We also carry the STRIKE-A-FIRE fire starter made by DIAMOND and also sold under the COLEMAN name... This will start a fire right away whether wet or not... great stuff
