Ok class A Winnebago Vista 26HE, does the furnace only run the heat on propane ? And same with the WaterHeater ?
But the fridge can be set to auto and run electric if plugged in or on generator but propane when not ??

  • The AC may be a heat pump! Those are nice. I have heat pumps and they do the job on chilly mornings without using any LP.

Using 12VDC for heat would kill your battery in about 15 minutes. Same for the water heater. Propane is cheap and plentiful. So using it as a heat source only makes common sense.

Ha I didn't think the furnace would use 12v dc for heat, I thought it would use AC when plugged in or on the gen
  • According to the Winnebago Vista brochure the water heater is propane only. Some other models have a propane/electric water heater. As mentioned even though the refrigeration function can be accomplished by either propane or 120 VAC electric the control panel is powered by 12 VDC.

As for the furnace both the igniter and the fan are powered by 12 VDC. The heat is generated by burning propane.
  • It is my understanding the furnace is LP and the blower runs off the battery?
  • You may or may not have electric on the water heater with only a 30A service.
  • With the frig, the furnace, and the WH, you need 12 vdc for the "control" system. However, the Frig can cool with either 120 vac, or propane but both need the 12 vdc. The furnace requires 12 vdc for the "control", but requires propane for heating. There is no electric heating from the furnace. Depending on the water heater, you need 12 vdc for "control", and either propane, and possibly 120 vac for heating.

  • RV refrigerators can run on propane and/or 110v. The 12v is for the control of the fridge.

    Furnace
    Propane AND 12VDC required

    Water Heater---Depends
    Gas Only-----Propane AND 12VDC
Gas/Electric combo---Propane OR AC ---12V DC for propane and Some need 12V DC to for the AC side

SO.....best info would be IF you would post BRAND/MODEL of furnace and water heater

    Fridge
    AC (shore/generator)
    OR Propane
    Need 12V DC for either
    Again..BRAND/MODEL would be helpful

So the furnace wont heat with electric correct ? Just need it for the blower....I will set the names and numbers...why do you need dc to the fridge
