We had to stay home this winter, we're usually in Florida by now. Our mh is in the driveway. On the really cold, single digit days, the door was frozen shut. The lock is working ok, it's the the door itself that can't be opened. It finally warmed up, but that will only last until this afternoon. Any ideas on what we can apply to keep the door from freezing shut? We're not inside the mh, otherwise the heat would keep it from freezing ( I'm assuming).Thanks for any help.

Maybe clean the door seals(rubber surrounding) with windshield fluid rated for like -20

My truck doors used to freeze up all the time - I just squirted de-ice around the seals...

White lithium grease on the gasket.

I used to use hot water from the tap and then just wipe up the resulting water. I have in the past used Armorall on the seals, it is primarily silicone and does not hurt the rubber.

Thank you for all the tips. We sprayed some rv antifreeze along the door. We should know tomorrow if that'll work.
When we're staying in there, I'll just direct a heater toward the door.
Until then, we'll try these suggestions. Thanks to all.

Get some canning wax from the hardware store and rub it on the door's gasket.

Hi,

Place an electric heater so it will blow on the door. Have it set to go on when the shore power cord is plugged in. I added an auxiliary shore power cord for this purpose--which powers only the heater and converter.

When your staying in it you most likely won't need to worry because of heater. I would suggest try leaving heater on one night. But either the -degree windshield or silicon will keep the gaskets from sticking to frozen metal.

Silicone spray lube works well (and WD40 is NOT silicone, nor useful for this purpose).

I spray silicon on all my vehicle door seals yearly in the late fall. If you can get them dry apply silicon should prevent the sticking.

We keep finding reasons to go in there. If nothing else, just to sit behind the wheel and go " vroom vroom" .
But in February, my brother & his wife will be staying in my house for a week, so we'll be staying in the motorhome.

If your not using it let it freeze. Why not let it unfreeze when the temp goes up?
