Down grade

our 26 foot tt with the truck was about 40 feet long and difficult for me to maneuver. bought a 24 foot four winds class c. no need to tow a car. suits us to a t.

I have just as much fun (even more when I can stay in State Parks with small sites) with my high top ford van than my 38'MH. Wife prefers the MH so that's what we use most. But the van has traveled all over Colorado and New Mexico to places the MH could not go. For extended stays the "A" wins hands down. But for ease of travel, way better mpg, and go anywhere capability, the B is the best. Never have liked "Cs". To me they have few advantages. Small A or a B would be my downsize preference. For trips of a couple weeks or less a B. Longer trips or stays smaller A.

I am going to sell my 38' Mountain Aire as soon as I get back next week. I bought a 19' Roadtrek fro a neighbor last fall. My wife died a year ago and I have a problem with the 6 steps up on the big one. I am 76 now but not ready to give up RVing. I found that I can take the ferry to Newfoundland for the same charge as a car. I am going this summer.

Have noted a number of people down sizing to the 27 foot Winnebago Vistas. Had a couple camped next to us at Disney last Winter who had gone from a larger DP to a very nice Winnebago Vista 27 with three slides. He was thrilled.

From a 35' class A to a 29' class C.

Yes, unfortunately, times are changing but not for the better.
I remember, when I was a kid, traveling in our 'House Car', during the late 50's and early 60's.
We could park anywhere and were often invited to park in peoples yards. No one bothered us.
It sure was a different, and better, world then..

And, for the OP. I think anytime you change to a different RV that is better for you, it is an Upgrade, not a downgrade.
If you go from a 45' Prevost to a Pop Up and it works better for you, it's an upgrade. JMO

We are also in our mid 70's and still enjoy actually camping in the NATL FOREST areas around here in VA-WVA-NC-TN-GA-AL high country and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Never was a MOTORHOME RV TRAVELER much persay...

We have the OFF-ROAD POPUP CAMPER setup and alot of times just load up the 4X4 truck and utility trailer with our three room tent setup and head for the mtns for the week... We can stay out a very long time running off the batteries and doing the daily three hour 2KW generator re-charge and have all the modern things with us to play with.

Love the high country in the woods...
