My appologies, sincerely. I just didn't know how you could get it going without basic understanding of how the transmission pad worked.

I can't speak for all DP's, but my motorhome is on a Freightliner Chassis with a 6 speed Allison tranny. I normally never have to manually down shift as activating the engine brake does that for me. But as it down shifts if I depress the accelerator, it will upshift as I'm telling it to speed up. I even use my engine brake on flat roads to help stop at stop signs. Just take your foot off the accelerator and it starts downshifting and slowing you down. Normally only have to use the brakes to take it from about 15 mph down to zero.

Just hit the down arrow as many times as you need to. Select D to go back to auto. As was said the transmission will not let you overspeed the system so don't worry. I usually end up in 4th gear going up and down steep mountains.

This is a joke, right??? Assuming you really don't understand how the transmission works in order to downshift you use the same keypad that allowed you to select "D" to get going in the first place. Simply hit another gear of choice 5,4,3,or 2 for example by hitting the down arrow. The engine management control will not permit a gear to be chosen that will overspeed the engine even if you choose 2 at 60mph. It is smart. Also be sure the engine brake or exhaust brake is on which will do the downshifting for you when the accellerator pedal is fully released.

Use the up or down arrows on the shift pad if you have that model. Select "D" to go back to automatic.
