- FIRE_UPExplorerWell,
As stated, in one way it depends on the established system in the coach. We have an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the 330 CAT and, it has the HWH manual or automatic leveling. In the automatic mode, all I have to do is push the "on" button twice. When I do that, I simply get out of the coach and let it do it's thing. If first drops the air in the bags which, takes about 20-25 seconds, then it analyzes what jacks have to come down first. Then, it brings down the remaining jacks for stabilization and, then shuts itself down.
To answer your question, dumping the bags takes seconds. Even if you're only going to be in that spot for one day, drop the bags, put the jacks down for stabilization and, whatever leveling is needed and enjoy a nice day. At least each and every time you leave and enter the coach it will be stable and not rock around because you didn't lower the bags.
If I want to do it manually, I simply turn the system on and then push the "dump" button for the bags. Then, I level as needed. Then, I put the slide(s) out. Works for us.
Scott - Bill_S_1ExplorerI never understood why some manufacturers have you put slides out before leveling. If the coach has a high or low corner, the body xould twist enough to cause the slide to bind, when extended. I have always leveled first, and then extend slides. My leveling system uses 4 hydraulic jacks. Maybe those with only 3, are different?
- peaches_creamExplorerThe manual on my HR say's: Slides out, Dump air, Jacks down. When leaving: Jacks up, Air up, Slides in. Get out "fast" before someone complains. :?
- wilpowerExplorerRead your manual! On Monaco/HR coaches it's usually, slides out FIRST, then dump the air.
If staying for just one night, we usually do not dump the air.
I corrected my post, must be getting old, misread/confused leveling with slides coming out! - bluwtr49Explorer IIDepends on the coach and the type of leveling system. With ours the sequence is: Slide out, dump air, level. I could level without dumping but as the tanks lose air I always worry about the tires leaving the ground and that's not a good thing.

depends how long your staying and how low u want the coach.when aired up your jacks have to extend too far so I dump the air bags but dont drain the air system and then level.Of course slide,s out first and foremost. If iam only staying a couple days and its level i leave it as is - Sully2ExplorerYUP!
- rv2goExplorer IIThat's correct. Dump the air, then level.
