Dynamax Isata or Born Free

Considering either a used Dynamax Isata or a Born Free. Both are original owners, 21 to 24 feet, and approximately 2005's. We're retired and will just be using it for standard travel. No off road, towing, or other. Both are somewhere in the $18,000 range. Pros and cons please.
  • I own an 04 Born Free. As far as safety goes it can't be beat, it's the only class c made with a rollbar integrated into the coach. I also like the seamless cabover. It rides much quieter than other class c's I've driven, not near as many squeaks and rattles going down the road. Mine has airbag suspension on the rear.
  • There are lots of options in this shorter length. I like Lazy Daze and Winnebago products. Looked ar a BF before buying my LD and found the LD had a 3 burner stove instead of 2, more room in the bed over cab, and a slicker appearance (polished aircraft aluminum vs dull fiberglass). Happy with used LD. Next RV is going to be new. Any RV 10 years + will require a lot of maintenance, it is inevitable when buying used. Still less risk though, in my opinion. New is big bucks and you take a big hit on depreciation the first few years. Good luck with your search. Test and inspect everything before buying used. Bring a flashlight!
  • Owned two Dynamax Starflytes, which are similar but older than the Isata. One was destroyed in a storm and had to be replaced. They are of higher than average quality, especially in comparison to my current Class C. Price range you are considering seems fair.

Born Free is also a respected brand. However, at RV shows, I have looked at some that have overhead beds with low headroom. Didn't fit my preferences. Born Free should be about like Dynamax quality so if the floorplan fits, would be an OK buy.
