E bay or Amazon?

I qualify for Student Prime.

Such a bargain.

I had trouble with Amazon once, when I ordered a refurbished iPhone from New York. It never arrived. Seller said he sent it to Amazons world shipping. I had to wait a full month after expected delivery before Amazon would consider my complaint, then another 2 weeks to give the seller a chance to deal with it. Turned out it was lost at Amazon world shipping center in SE US. I got a full refund. Ordered another from an Amazon seller further west with no problem.

I recently got a pair of fog lights from an eBay seller in the US, which arrived in a week. Items from China usually take a month but orders in November take an extra month. Some still haven't come; dealers have promised to send again.

I have used both and I usually choose the lower priced one, usually eBay. Never had a problem with either.

Amazon.

I have bought on both. And only once did I not get my order from the eBay source. I consider Amazon the better choice though. But Googling can often turn up an even better price from other sources, often with no tax and maybe free shipping.

Since I have Amazon Prime (love it), I use Amazon when price is equal. Overall, I use Amazon A LOT more than eBay, but there are certain things (in my cycling life) that I only buy on eBay because of price and availability.

I always check both. I've had problems with both.

I too am an Amazon fan. If you need to return an item, you call..get a prepaid ticket...box it and drop it at the post office. 2 days after received...money returned.

The only thing I want to add is..are you close enough to the border to make a drive down conveniently? If so...go Googling and find one of the many, many 'receivers'..I use Kinek...they will accept any package and hold it for you at a fee of 4 or 5 bux. You go down and collect it. You avoid shipping charges and usually are not dinged at the border on duty. I mean..if you rack up a huge dollar figure, you might not get by, but I have yet to pay duty even up to $1,000.00.

Shipping fees can and will really add up, so be aware. You don't always see the actual final tally until just before hitting the 'Buy Now' toggle. Do NOT get sucked into Prime on Amazon.com. You will get the free shipping but all the other stuff like movies and books? nu uh...you are NOT in the US.

Do price comparisons..even on Amazon. ca and Amazon.com. They are NOT the same and you might be super shocked at the pricing difference on some items. ie: I bought an item that was $18.00 on .Com...was $110 on .Ca (not an RV item)

If you are comfortable, Pay Pal is good...but I use a charge card with Amazon.

In general I'd say Amazon. Easier to buy from and easier to do the rare return to. Also their shipment tracking works a lot better than Ebay. Set up and use their text and email alerts.

I will use Ebay for outdated or older items which can apply to out of date RV parts.

You also have to watch two things on Ebay pricing.

#1, you'll find a decent or low pricing, but then watch out for the shipping costs. Often a low priced vendor will make up for the lower price in higher shipping costs so that overall, they're not lowest. I recently bought a couple of brake master cylinders from Ebay. One guy wanted $36 to ship one when it would fit in a USPS Priority box for less than $7. I asked him why the high shipping cost and he said Ebay set the shipping cost, not him. I contacted Ebay and they said that no, they didn't set the shipping cost.

#2, a lot of people assume Ebay has to be lowest when it's not. Another recent example was I wanted a couple more Swiss Army knives. The starting asking price, before people starting bidding the cost up, was more on Ebay than just buying them from Amazon.

So Ebay has it's place, but 95% of my purchases go to Amazon.

Another vote for Amazon although I have purchased many items from Ebay without issue. We are Prime members and enjoy all the perks, just last night we thoroughly enjoyed watching one of our favorite movies in full 1080p resolution.
