The Chassis that are prewired, usually do NOT have a large enough wire for GOOD current transfer. With a Workhorse chassis it is very easy to run a 2- wire 12 gauge sheathed wire from the front to the rear. This allows 2 things.
1. A GOOD 12 gauge wire for the TOW BRAKES. Smaller gauge wiring from the back to the rear allows to much voltage drop when activating the brakes. Remember, tow brakes are activated and the amount of braking is by the voltage(1 to 12 volts) supplied by the Brake control.
2. The 2nd wire can be easily connected to one of the rear Brake light wires for the Brake control activation instead of attempting to crawl under the dash by the steering wheel and tapping onto the Brake Pedal switch.
Last, IF you want to tap onto the Brake pedal switch, then the 2nd wire can then be used as a 12 volt CHARGE wire to your tow, if you need a 12 volt charge source. Doug
PS That is how we wire at our Dealership.
