Electric heating

As winter comes on it looks like I am not going to get way south. Going to spend the winter in the Dallas area as my son gets well in the hospital. So with that said I wanted to ask if and what type of electric heating I should consider for my 36ft Damon. Thanks for any info.

We spent 3 winters in Palm Beach co. AC ran most all the time
  • Personally I like oil filled portables. They are silent, and dont get so hot as to hurt my dog. Infrared will warm you quickly, but oil filled I think is safer.
  • I have a 10,000 btu heat pump/AC unit that is portable, puts out more heat than the resistant heaters, and uses less electricity. It is on rollers and can also be used for those hot Summer months to help with the AC.

  • You may need more than electric heaters in the DWF area or you may not. I suggest you assume you'll need more than electric and get yourself a 30# tank and an extended stay hookup for your furnace unless you want to drive to a propane dealer to fillup your onboard tank.

We spent two winters in the hill country west of Austin, one was mild the other I was at the propane dealer once a week for most of Jan and part of Feb. We also ran two 1500 ceramic heaters 24-7 and the heat pump when the temps allowed...
  • We used two small heaters in our motorhome, one on each end. It worked for most situations. Once the temps dropped down into the 20s we had to turn the furnace on. I originally bought a couple of cheap heaters and they both quit in the middle of cold nights. Don't go cheap..LOL..
