Electric slide outs

My 99 Newmar had electric and no issues till we got rid of it last May. So 19 years for it working.

I recently bought a used 2002 Allegro Bay made by Tiffin. 17 years with 2 electric slides that work perfectly. Mines a gas model, 8.1L w/ Allison.

I've never heard of hydraulic slides before. Maybe in some of the upper scale CLASS A? but, never heard of it before. New one for me!

Hydraulic slides are very common on 5th wheels. And not just high end. Don't know how common on MHs.

A little over four years of full-timing and 212 moves (I keep a travel log) with electric slides without any issues.

Mine are Hydraulic on our 2005 Gulfstream Class A. Have never had a problem, would not want anything else. Runs off the same pump system as the jacks.

Newmar electric slides are pretty darn good, and sturdy. In recent years there were a batch that had service bulletins regarding the motor bolts coming loose but all is good.

Our 2016 Tiffin gasser has two slides: the large "front room" slide is an HWH hydraulic and the small bedroom slide is a Lippert electric. We had a problem with the motors of the electric one going out of sync because we stopped partway through the stroke. A youtube video showed how to resync the motors and keep them in sync; resyncing was easily and simply done and no problem since.

After all the years of reading about peoples experiences here on this forum, I would not hesitate to go with electric.

I've seen more posts regarding problems with hydraulic slideouts than I have electric slideouts. Our 1994 5th wheel has a 14ft long by 4ft deep slideout plus a smaller bedroom slideout. Both are controlled by electric motors. The only problem I've had since new was the wire nut came off on the large slideout motor. I put on a new wire nut and all has been OK since.
