Electrical Problem

Great suggestion prism. We are making our second trip this weekend and will deffinately see if the other side becomes active on sp. I have a feeling it will. Thanks again.

Using the Inverter for AC means/proves nothing.A older unit like yours have some outlets on Shore Power only and Some on Inverter/SP combo so if your now saying these outlets in question did not work when u activated your AC inverter does not mean Squat as thats not what your OP indicated. Plug into SP and then see what works and what dont
based on your posts I suggest all your outlets will work fine on SP as like Iam saying not all 120 outlets are run through Inverter system on older DP

OK so your claiming several outlets in your 2003 MH were never ever connected to a power source and never worked from new?

So, just to bring things up to date. After becoming a pseudo expert in Xantrex inverter/chargers by reading the tech material until my eyes crossed, then emailing their support team my problem was solved by one of their tech support people. They were were very helpful and knowledgeable. To sum it up, this was a major DUH! moment. After giving the tech person the model number he told me that it has a single AC feed which will power one side of the RV only. Since the outlets on the other side of the RV have never worked since I purchased it I never thought that this was a normal condition. So, all is well. Again, my thanks to all of you who responded.

The first time this happened to me I did the same thing. Pushed the reset button on the GFI outlet and even removed it and measured for voltage. I had already checked all the circuit breakers in the main panel and didn't realize that the inverter also had a couple. Bought a new outlet and replaced the one that wasn't working....like you, it still wouldn't work.

Finally someone here on rv.net told me about the cb on the inverter. Yep, that was the problem. So, ever since then, whenever someone here writes in stating this type of problem, the first thing I do is tell them about the cb on the inverter. 9 times out of 10, that's the problem.

if there is NO power to a GFI it will not reset.it will be the inverter breaker

Thanks lanerd for the inverter suggestion, makes sense. I'm still quite new to the RV scene. For the other folks who weighed in, thanks. I have rehab'd 4 houses in the past and have some knowledge of electrical systems. The first thing I did before buying a new GFI was to "push the reset button" several times. Also, as previously mentioned I couldn't find any other GFI's inside or outside. Tested each outlet with a circuit tester as well. So the most logical course before hiring a RV electrician is to try the inverter reset suggestion. Thanks to you all. I'll let you all know what happens.

did u not check to see if there was power to the gfi before wasting money and time? There will be a resetable breaker on the inverter thats tripped is what is wrong

X2... this is the most common fix for this situation. There are typically are two push button type of circuit breakers on the side of the inverter. One is probably tripped.
