Evaporust actually works

I couldn't get to a sand blaster to clean some rusty parts. I was at Tractor Supply and saw this stuff.

I soaked the parts over night. this is what came out not a lick of rust. It wont remove paint, or some sort of gummy black junk that came off with a light scrubbing

If ya want a before shot, look at my restoring the Holiday RRambler post page 33
  • I've never tired it myself, but they say if you take a rusted item and soak it in Coca Cola over night, it will remove the rust. Lots of YouTube life hacks says this.

Thanks for your testimonial! I'll keep this one tucked away in my memory banks should the need arise.
  • Also Marvel Mystery oil totally removes rust. Thanks for the tip!
  • I've used vinegar as a rust remover, it did okay.
Thanks for the report on Evapo-rust. I'll try it next time.
  • And you can keep using it over and over until it turns a deep black color. Great stuff

It's the Phosphoric acid in Coke that does it and it's in all the various rust removal products. You can buy it at HD in the paint department by the gallon... usually green in color.
  • Grand Ma and others used half vinegar and water and soaked metal in it, to gt rid of rust.
I've heard of this product and heard good things of it.
I have several old tools that need to have rust removed.

That stuff is just Naval jelly AKA Phosphoric Acid.
If you paint Phosphoric Acid on a Cats ass it will pass a freight train.

    HAH! Cracked me up.

The thing is guys, if you look at the bottle the OP shows in his post, it says it's not an acid, and has a neutral Ph. So...it's not Naval Jelly.
  • On a trail fit, The throttle works properly, and carb seems to clear every thing. Next up the vacuum lines.
