Ez pass locations

Best two placements I found on my Monaco was about 3-4 inches off the dash center window, but the dogs kept knocking it off when parked. I moved it to about 3' off the dash and it worked just as well. when I placed it very high on the windshield it would not hit most times.

I thought of it this way, the reciever is aimed to pick up a passanger car or truck with the tag mounted behind the rear view mirror. So lower on the windsheild is closer to the proper aiming then higher up due to the height of the vehicle.

Thanks for all the tips. We will try lower. had it there, once no luck. we are on our 4th different ez pass as it seems that they can't get us the right one. every time we call ez pass they say we have the wrong one and send out another. We will keep trying .

what does 'wrong one' mean? i'm pretty sure that you're not required to obtain an EZ Pass from your home state. you should be able to get one from any EZ Pass state including Illinois (I-Pass). there is no ongoing or one-time fee for an I-Pass and you can register as many vehicles to the I-Pass as you like.

x2. I've had the one for the MH for a little over 9 years now (same transponder). Have yet to have a problem. However, now that I've said that...:R

Picked up a ez pass on the way out to get RV at a rest stop ez pass store put in window go thru toll nothing call ez pass they say need special ez pass for RV will send one out get new pass go thru toll nothing call ez pass give number they say we gave you wrong one for RV send us one that is blue put in RV go thru toll nothing again call ez pass they say blue one for towing only send another one out to us last time out worked on one of four tolls. This is what was meant by wrong ones. So this is why we are posting to see if we are just lucky or others have had these issues.thanks again for replies. We live in vermont so no tolls here.

just fyi...for those using Illinois I-Pass (I-Pass works in all EZ Pass states)...the I-Pass will work in your car, pickup, van or RV.

I never have an issue with my two E-Z Passes when utilized on my Honda or F150. However, on the Class C for the last 3 1/2 years it is hit or miss. I have moved it around on the windshield and for the most part 2" up and centered. Often in MD I am a violator with or without the toad. In NYC, it is hit or miss on bridges with toll gates. Anything else I could care less. If the overhead reader does or does not read my transponder in the Express lanes or the slow lane reader does not, all my tags are on file and there is no additional fee if it does not read. But I do hate to see the red light flashing and hear the alarm. It's like the whole world thinks you are a criminal!

For your class C maybe you can get them to send you the ezpass that goes on the plate frame?
