EZpass question part 2

Thanks to all who answered my last question - especially Sooboy whose answer was the most helpful with the link he posted.

We bought an EZpass in Gettysburg PA yesterday and I went online to register it.

Their website says it's only for vehicles up to 7,000 pounds. If you have something between 7,001 and 15,000 you need a commercial account, which would be no problem as we still have a corporation active that we could put it under.

Problem is we are driving a motor home - 39' - with a tow.

So are we not able to use the EZpass system? :h

Those of you who do use it in motor homes what do you do - use your car as the registered vehicle and hope they don't catch on or what?

The 72 hour clock is ticking on this thing to register it so I am hoping someone can help. (will try to call their help desk today but the thought of doing that gives me chills;):o

Get an iPass from Illinois. Works with any vehicle you enter into the database. Works anywhere EZ Pass is taken also.

X2 - You are finding out now why so many folks recommended the I-Pass when responding to your first post.

2chiefsRus...Looking for help here not I told you so's.

I did fairly extensive research after the post from Sooboy. I looked into the Illinois one. We are not really able to get an iPass from Illinois as it can take 2 weeks to get it in the mail.

We are full timers and on the move every 3 or 4 days. We are also not planning on being in Illinois anytime before needing an ezPass to be able to buy it directly.

Please remember we are from the northwest part of the country where we don't have toll roads. Having never used them before they can be a little frustrating reading all of the different state sites about them. That's why I turned to the great folks here for advise.
  • Going through ez pass booths in Maryland, if I go through a manned booth then they must check something that registers I'm pulling a TT. The first time I was ready to pay cash and the lady said, "I got you". Not had a problem since....
  • Have had PA EZpass for 6-7 years and it works just fine. I move it from the car to the MH when traveling. When you log on register it to the car and list the MH as a secondary vehicle. Have used it this way up thru New England and as far west as Chicago and have had no problems.
  • Illinois is the same as Ohio. I can use my EZPass on everything from my Motorcycle to our Motor Home. In our case, as long as they have the same number of axles (no tag for us), you can use the same pass.
