When I just completed a brake job on my Chevy HHR toad, I found that there are after market springs available that help to prevent brake drag. These are small, cheap(under $10) springs that fit on to your brake pads and provide some force to retract the pads away from the rotor when not needed. WE just got back from a trip where I put almost 1000 miles on the toad in the mountains. I did not notice any decrease in my braking but I did notice that I no longer have a lingering dragging noise after I release the brakes. I do not know if these are available for all vehicles with disc brakes but for the cost, if I can find them, I will install them on every vehicle that I own, including the MH. They are known as "Brake Pad drag reduction clips".
