Now, I'm curious if anyone with experience doing these can tell me if the wheel bearing is normally tightened more, or less, during this procedure? What I mean is, is it common for the nut to go a bit tighter than previously?
The book says 5 clicks back on a new bearing, but 7 clicks back on a used one... in my case I had some noticeable play back and forth (not much though), so my final adjustment (without the torque wrench, should I use the torque wrench?), looks to be one tooth tighter than it was before. Now I have the slightest ever play back and forth... hardly noticeable other than the thunk of metal hitting.
