Filled an empty water tank, can't draw water

As others have said you have to turn the valve handle, in the wet bay. You have it open to fill the tank. The water pump is running furiously even though you don't have the tap on. It can't get water until you turn the selector valve.....sometimes we will get aa little water from water in the lines and water heater.

Not all of them work that way, though and ours is automatic with check valves in the line and the pump can be run at the same time with outside water pressure. It does however have a big ball valve near the water inlet, but that's for filling the tank only. The OP could have some inline valves near the pump as well.

We have that also, just to the right of the city inlet.

X2. Very simple mistake for a first time owner. I still make that mistake years later.

Could also be a bad water pump.
