I experienced the same problem as described and spent some time trying to figure out and troubleshoot the slide electrical system without success. I called a Mobile RV Repairman he arrived with battery and cables in hand, went directly to the slide motor, and in about three minutes told me the slide gear motor needed to be replaced.
