Floating floor - Who installed them?

I did an engineered wood floor in our Ultimate Freedom and it worked fine. Was able to go under the slides and everything. When you do a floor like that you need to leave like 3/8" on the edges for expansion. You cover the gap with moulding nailed to the wall and not the floor so it can expand and contract.

I put laminate through our coach and like above left the gap around the edges. It has been five years and it has seen -35 to +95 temperatures and no problems. I have my recliner chair bolted down through the laminate and no problems.

Some say that engineered floor is pretty stable. I seen many using laminated floor in their cottage where it is not heated when they are not there. It looks OK.

I like the look of engineered wood but I was a bit worry that it could take up humidity and / or expand or retract.

The MH is a bit different than a home as it probably twist a bit with the MH. But like you say, it's good so far.

I did a floating floor with Allure flooring. Looks really good. Went up under slides really easily. Put 1/8" lexicon down to cover the chassis bolt heads then put down the Allure.

One thing to consider is that the engineered (fake) wood is thinner than the real stuff so if height is an issue then that may be the best choice.
Another benefit of the fake stuff is it takes scratching better but will chip worse if something heavy or sharp is dropped on it.

engineered wood is actually thin layers of plywood with a layer of real wood adhered on the top. this material is dimensionally stable and will not accept humidity like 3/4 solid wood.

I installed the engineered flooring that resembles tile in our coach. It is the floating type flooring with an 1/8" foam backing. We travel quite often in the Winter and have been in below zero temps and above 100 degree temps. We have had no problem with the flooring buckling but I was careful to allow the recommended space around the perimeter for expansion. I also followed the directions to attached the trim molding to the wall rather than down through the flooring material.
After I stripped the old carpeting out of our coach, I put two coats of polyurethane on the sub-floor to seal it from any future spills/leaks.
Basically it is very simple....follow the manufacturer's recommendations and you will have no problem.

I got rid of all the carpet some years ago and replaced it with allure. It was the best thing I have done makes keeping the coach clean very easy when camping (no wife). I have had zero issues with temp from hottest summers to coldest Idaho winters. Wet muddy dog camp gear etc no problem just wipe it up or sweep it out. I left a 1/4 inch gap all around and covered that with quarter round.

I put engineered wood in the bedroom of my DP, it is above the engine room and the heat does not bother it at all.
The floor is floating with a gap around all sides covered with 1/4 round.
