Flooring, laminate or wood?

I am getting ready to replace the carpet and linoleum in my MH. I am leaning towards wood, but, I thought I'd check here to see what others have done and if you're happy with your choice.

Did you use wood or laminate and if you were doing it again would you use the same material? Why or why not?

Did you install it length wise or side to side and if so did you install at an angle other than 90*
I believe I've seen wood installed at a 30* or 45* angle.

Did you cover the floor in your slide or leave it carpeted?

Glue/nail or floating?

I know there are several questions here, but, I would appreciate your input.

Thanks
  • Laminate for sure. A broom and a swiffer is all you need to keep it clean. You won't believe how dirty the old carpet gets.

  • We had Armstrong laminate put in all threw the living, kitchen, and bathroom and DW loves it.. We chose 12" square tile look.. It feels like tile too.. The pieces are three foot long and one foot wide.. Mike Mathews..
  • Just did a 12mm handscrape look .Laminate.Was nice and with a pad attached.
Not as easy to scratch like wood would be.Have installed wood more weight too.have to watch for expansion If you live in colder climates.I would glue it down for wood .IMO
  • I used laminate with a good vapor barrier and padding. Left the carpeting under the slide area and just butted the laminate up to it. Can't see the carpeting unless you are on your hands and knees! Face nailed in a few placed, but floating elsewhere. Felt the laminate would be more stable in various weather conditions and easier to clean and take care of.

    Good luck with your project.
  • Floating laminate. At least thats what I plan on, when the time comes. I can't see any reason to use wood. North to south installation.
