Most later model engines will have a schrader valve test port to screw on a fuel pressure gauge. If the tank needs to be dropped and the pump runs at all, remove the schrader valve and install a hose on the fitting, remove the pump relay and use a jumper wire to power the pump and fill some 5 gallon jugs or give it to your buddies. It's not too difficult a job IF the tank is empty. Depending on how involved you want to get, some pumps can be repaired with a pump motor unit instead of the complete cartridge.
