Forest River slideout stuck ... Reset ??

Looking at a 2015 Forest River 2500TS on the dealer lot yesterday. It was new unit to dealer lot and didn't even have dealer inventory tag on it yet.
When I asked to test drive it the two slides on the side of the rig came in just fine but the rear bedroom slide wouldn't work.

They took it to service and fixed it in about 10 mins. Dealer (sales person) said that batteries were low (even though two slides worked just fine) and they just needed to "reset" the slide.
Has anyone ever heard of resetting a slide??

I tried to find a number for Forest River direct but seems it is a secret and they don't put it on their website for contacting them. Anyone happen to have a number for some type of support from Forest River??
  • My FR 3051S has a brain that runs the slides. This brain has a reset and emergency retract button on it. Mine is located in the kitchen area behind the set of drawers. The drawers need to be pulled out and there is a small inspection panel that need to be removed. The "brain" or controller is inside the panel. FR does not disclose this information in their owners manual; why, I have no clue!

  • Forest River uses Lippert slide outs. And they make 2 different kinds of slideout mechanisms. I would ascertain which one you have then goto youtube and search lippert slide out. you will find instructional videos for both kinds.
  • Grumpy, I appreciate the info. I just recently joined the FG forum and did post this exact question but never got any responses.

I appreciate your time. Was just trying to make sure I wasn't getting a line from the dealer as I've never heard of a reset before.

    Thanks again
  • If the batteries are low they may have had enought charge to extend the slides, but not enough left to bring em back in. A lot of rigs do have a reset switch, sometimes located in the or near the battery. Seems like the dealer might have reset and hooked another battery up to bring in the slides.
If your thinking of buying, have the dealer install new batteries, and run the slides in n out several times.
As for a direct # to Forest River, good luck. You'd have better luck getting in touch with the president of the USA. All FR will do is direct you back to the dealer.
Check over on the Forest River Forums, and you will find a lot of good info from FR owners.
