I would leave it off, it used a huge amount of electricity or propane.

If you only store for a short time (week or less) you might wish to leave it on,, If stored for "off season" (Winter for example) Then turn it off and block the door so it can not close.
You also need to turn it off from time to time to Defrost.. I managed to go several months my last defrost but the last month it's frosting up.. I'm figuring out how to make it less frosty.. This is a good thing, Article follows in several months when I'm more sure of my findings. - Two_JayhawksExplorerWe are in the Midwest so of course we are in the off season but our fridge is kept on. It has all the barely perishable stuff, salad dressing, condiments, pop, butter, candy, etc. Coach is stored at work, indoors, plugged in, and I have been known to eat my lunch back there.
- 10forty2ExplorerJust another opinion.... we leave ours turned off with the doors propped open when not in use, even though the coach stays plugged up all the time.
- rockhillmanorExplorerIMHO why would anyone leave an appliance on when an RV is in storage or not being used.?
Off, cleaned with bleach, and fridge and freezer doors securely propped open. - ksg5000ExplorerI don't see the point in operating an empty refrigerator - seems like a waste of money.
- CampinghossExplorer IIAlways plugged in while sitting at home but reefer is always off and doors open. I have never had a problem doing this in all my years of rving. When getting ready to hit the road I start up the reefer so we can pack it.
- gboppExplorerI'm plugged in 24/7 when at home. But, the refrigerator is off unless we're planning to go.
- samsontdogExplorerI see no reason to leave ref on during storage unless I use every weekend
- frankdampExplorerOff, with the door cracked open. Our Norcold had plastic clip-on thingies to keep the doors open about half an inch. Closed with power off will make it get very smelly and power on for several weeks can cost a fair amount.
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerI never turn my fridge off at home so why in the motorhome? Of course ours is a residential fridge and I keep some essentials in the refrigerator and in the freezer.
I would never leave the motorhome unplugged (we use it monthly).
Do you turn off your whole house when you leave for vacation?
