From Mass to Cali and back
Anyone ever make this trip? I am going to do it in the summer of 2016. That gives me a little over a year to plan it. Looking for tips, best routs, stuff to see, places to stop and general advise. ...

Magilla-G, how long are you going to take for this trip? It will take you at least a week to drive straight to California and another week to drive back to Massachusetts. So, you will need at least 4 weeks at a minimum.
It also depends on which route that you want to take. Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse are a must-see in South Dakota. If traveling south, you have to see Graceland in Memphis (bring your blue suede shoes).
Northern California has the huge Redwood trees... absolutely amazing. You will feel like a gnat standing next to one. And, if your tow vehicle is small enough, you can drive through one of the trees that was carved out in the 1930's (we drove our Honda through it).
