Front clearance lights do not work!

I have been a member of this site for a few years but never posted before, so bear with me.
I have a 2003 Coachmen class C Freedom on a Chevy chassis. It all began when I noticed two of my front clearance light lens were cracked, apparently a limb hit them on one of our last trips. I tried to turn the lights on to see if they were affected or just cracked....no worky! I bought two new lights, with bulbs and replaced them. Still they didn't come on. So now i"m thinking fuse...but wait that can't be it because the back lights all work, up front the parking lights come on but not the top lights. I checked all fuses anyway. All wire connections I can see or feel seem good. All I can think of is this....is it at all possible that the lights are wired such that when one goes out they all go out. The two bulbs I replaced were not bad. My only recourse is to remove the three lights to check the bulbs. The lens has a clear inspection spot in the lens but I can't see the bulb filament well enough to tell if it is blown. All comments are welcome!
  • Good luck never figured ours out. Had to run a new positive from the fuse box. Tried getting a wire schematic from Jayco but they sent me one for a 03 on a Ford Chassis and nothing lined up.
  • Check the side clearness light for four wires connected to the light. On the driver side amber light location. I just up grade to led clearness lights and found a wire lose at that one. Which cause rest of lights not work.
  • I would start by making sure I had 12v at the lights. Then I would check for continuity across the grounds.

Thanks for the input! I did locate what I believe is the ground wire, it is screwed into the metal close to the fuse box. It looked fine however I will take another look and probably take it off, clean the area and wire good and reattach.
Yeah that's a good start but it's not always the main ground. I could be individual ground wires or even the ground wire that is attached to the bulb. I would do what CGmartine suggests. You need to check each and every ground wire all the way to the source. I have never done it that way but next time I have a problem I am going to. sounds like a great idea.
  • You can check the ground if you have a long wire with two wire clips at each end. Hook one end to a good ground, and the other end to the ground at the bulb. If it works, then you know for sure it was an issue with the ground.
