fuel filler hose cost??

Took Mh to local RV shop to get the fuel filler hose replaced. F53 Chassis, 1997 Dolphin. Charge for 4 feet of hose was $147.00. That is 36.75 a foot. Near as I can tell from looking on line just now that is about twice the cost it should have been. Don't know what the ID was but even at 2 inches that still seems high. Suspect the ID is about 1 and 1/2 inches at the most. Any other opinions or actual cost experience? Thanks

    Actual cost experience:

$89.00 for a 3 foot precut section of Dayco 80304 1 3/4"id fuel filler hose at NAPA.
  • That sounds really out of line to me. But I have nothing but my gut hunch to back up my theory.
I paid $44.00 for a 14" "formed" air hose from my intake manifold to the air compressor from Cummin's. I thought that was out of line but it is a dealer item.
On edit: If the hose is made of Viton it could very well be that expensive. Viton is used on petroleum products for hoses and gaskets. Had to use it on drycleaners because the Percloretheyne would disolve most any other fabric hoses.
  • I had mine replaced 2 years ago in Leesburg, fl. I forgot the price of the hose, but it was quite expensive. 1 1/2" fuel line is not cheap, and the prices are always cheaper online.:B
