Fuel Gauge

I don't want to hi-jack the thread but I have a similar problem on a 2003 American Tradition. My problem is the specifications say I have a 150 gallon tank,the gauge seems to work correctly but when it registers empty I can only put in about 100 gallons, never more than 104 and usually 90-100.It has been this way since we got it 4 years ago.It may seem like a small problem but knowing I could go another 200- 300 miles could be the diference in making it to a state with less expensive fuel.

Thanks for the tip. I have not gotten around to looking at mine yet. A surprise broken entry door handle project diverted me! Maybe this weekend. I will check the ground wire first to see if that might be my problem. Will report back.

Easily removed sender from tank, got info off it and called Centroid. For $72. they are sending me a new one; will arrive in 2 weeks. Hopefully problem solved. Thanks for everyone's input.

One other note on Centroid - when I talked to them, they asked if I wanted to troubleshoot the sensor. At the time I said no, but after thinking about it I thought why not? I emailed them back and they sent me some troubleshooting instructions. If you are interested in the same, just email them that you want to troubleshoot the sending unit on your Monaco coach. It sounds like they were only used up to 2007.

As I am somewhat in transit, it may be a few weeks until I can get around to looking at mine.

Ours was on the left side of the tank but on the top. Easily accessed when the "bay" door on road side at the fuel tank was swung up out of the way. My signature for some reason didn't show up on my previous post. It's an 04 Ambassador. The Monaco part # for ours is "01806202 fuel sender 14 7/8 dampened".

Ouch! Got the quote from Monaco - $276! They also had this to say about accessibility:

As for accessing the sending unit, usually it is on one side or the other of the fuel tank (rarely in the middle). The panel where the fuel port is located is most likely a false bay door, look along the side or underneath for screws holding the panel in place, once these are removed then it should hinge out like a bay door.

I also called Sales at Centroid. They don't stock the exact replacement, but will build one for you. She said you may be able to see the part number on top - if not you may need to pull it out to find the part number. As a last resort, they will ask you to take it out and measure it. She did not give a price.

She is not able to sell directly to me in FL, but I would need to contact either Alliance Coach or Lazy Days. If I don't like their price, I can always have them ship it to TX and I can get it when I fly there for Christmas later this year.

The tank doesn't have to be drained. The sender goes in from the top of the tank. My tank was 3/4 full when the sending unit was replaced.

Well, Centroid is on the ball. I emailed them over the weekend and got a reply first thing this morning. They simply said to call sales at 386-423-3574.

To those that say this is a 30 min DIY project, what about the poster above that said the tank will have to be emptied? It seems that would make it more involved if true for our models.

Had to replace our fuel gage sender in our 2007 Ambassador. The side panel giving access to the sender was actually hinged on the left side - held shut by 2 screws on the right! Just had to use a smaller phillips head screwdriver to get between the body panels.

Like mentioned before - no more than a 30 minute DIY project.
