There is a code for a large leak in the vapor system....the gas line has to be air tight. The code can get set if the gas cap is off or loose.... But after resetting the codes and I unhooked the neg lead on the battery since I was working on the gas system and did not want anything electrical having any chance of making a bad day! Anyhow with all of that the computer has systems that have to run to make them "ready" before you can go back and get smog tested. There is a whole write up for GM vehicles.
