OK, My problem is :: I have a 2011 Four Winds Hurricane, but the problem is I'm having a problem with the fuel line to the genitor, on last trip It was hot and we wanted to run the roof air along with the dash while driving. I had just filled up and started the generator. it ran for a few minutes and quip. So I waited until I got home, changed the fuel filter, air filter. wouldn't run. So just to check it our sprayed fuel into the carb. It ran, So I stuck a hose into a can of gas started the generator and it ran. Hooked up the fuel line and it quit again. Does anyone know if there might be another filter in the fuel line between the generator and the gas tank.

The fuel line itself is bad..replace the fuel line (easier said than done)..there is a hole in it and it is sucking air. Other possibility is that the pick up line from the tank is too high..but I am assuming you have more than 1/4 tank.

Three possible issues in suspect order1: 1/4 or LESS tank of fuel.. The generator fuel pickup is usually around the 1/4 tank mark,, may be higher2: Bad fuel line,, pinhole leaks letting air in (Actually happened on a car I used to drive)Large gap,, Very large gapVery large number (it is that far down the list) Clogged fuel pick up strainer (I have actually never heard of this happening but in theory it can).

Most likely your fuel line from tank to genset has deteoriated split and is sucking air. Had that happen to ours & had to replace fuel line.Good luck & Safe travels

Strange the fuel line would go bad in a 2011 unit. But...stranger things have happened.My 2001 had that problem just last year....turned out to be a crack in the generator fuel line. Sucking air...not gas.All set up to drop the tank (2x4s, a floor jack, a friend, an impact driver and a 6-pack)...discovered that with a 12 inch screwdriver and my long arm, from the passenger side of the tank I could pop off the fitting (hose) and hook the new hose up, route it, and had the generator running in about 20 minits. I REALLY got lucky there.I THINK...that with this ethanol, the line goes bad before it "should". I also THINK that the gov't has hose "standards" for this ethanol gas from the tank to the motor...but has no standards for hoses to things like a generator. So...when shopping at the auto parts store for hose, the "standard" hose is really cheap...but the "ethanol resistant" hose is quite a bit more. In fact, the old hose was not marked "ethanol resistant" or anything like that.But mine, like I said, is a 2001. Yours, a 2011? Wow.g'luck!

Had the same problem. As others have said, it's the fuel line.

I think I've found the problem, seems that a squirle has chewed on a fitting that goes into the aux gas line on the fuel tank and caused a air leak . Had a hard time finding the replacement fitting. and haven't replaced it yet. I will post the results when it's replaced.

If fuel tank is below 1/4 full the gen will not run due to pickup being higher in fuel tank

Ok I've changed the fuel filter, and installed a new fuel pump. Still won't start. guess I have to take it some where and have the fuel line checked. I can't get to it.

Well I hate to BUST every bodys bubble but I JUST went through ALL of that and in the end IT was the fuel pump.2011 is to new for bad fuel line.I went to amazon and ordered a AIRTEX E11015 Fuel pump,which is the exact same pump for my Onan 5500 Gen.It cost 45.00 not 125.00.took about 1/2 hr to replace,while i was at it I put a inline fuel shut off on,and removed the fuel filter at the carb, Onan said you don't need two filters.the fuel pump was cheep enough I bought a spair.its worth it to keep on hand, because if I need one i won't have to wait to have one shipped .

that won't work as there is no aux fuel pump. hittint the prime only works with the pump on the generator.

If it is the fuel line from the tank when you replace it go with fuel injector rubber hose it will last longer. When I replaced my line I just used short pieces of hose at connection points and the rest I used solid line copper or steel

Exactly correct.
The fuel pump will be working harder lifting fuel from the can on the ground than when it's pulling fuel from a higher frame mounted tank.
