Fuel pump voltage?

Dropped my fuel tank to install new fuel pump in my 97 Bounder with Ford 460 engine. Before reinstalling the tank I checked the voltage at the pump pigtail. I had 6.67 volts. Anyone out there know what the voltage should be at the pump? I thought it was low but maybe not. I figured I'd ask before reinstalling the tank. Don't really want to drop it again if there's a problem
  • The power to the pump is also the power to the strain gage which supplies the fuel level. While 6.67 seems like a good number for a fuel level I cannot see a supply voltage (looking at the diagram now) without an energized fuel pump relay and pump with a closed inertia switch.
  • Ditto on the float level. On mine voltage did not go to the tank pump until the engine started on my 89 vehicle. Threw me a bit too.
  • how many wires. Sound like you got one for the float level. My book only shows 12v Battery, relay, then to pump, Can't give you a voltage other than 12v.
