Fumoto Valve

I am considering getting one of the Fumoto valves to make it easier to collect a periodic oil sample (I have one of the hand pumps but it doesn't seem to work that well with my particular dipstick tube configuration). I have the Cummins ISL.

Is there anyone who has ever had an issue with these valves?
  • Fumoto has been on my Oil Pan for years- never any issues and great for either draining or pulling a sample.
  • After putting it off for years I finally installed on my MH and love it. Now I'm trying to understand why I waited so long. Have a Merry Christmas.

  • I have the one with the nipple on the end which lets me attach a piece of tubing. Clears my skid plate, so no more messy clean-ups. Love mine!
  • I think Fumoto valves are great for draining oil during a oil change. I have one on every vehicle and engine I own. Makes life so much easier! But that is the last place you want to take a oil sample from. Way to much chance of dirt contamination!!! You are far better off using a vacuum pump similiar to the one from Blackstone Labs. With it you know you have a clean sample. You may just need a longer tube (1/4" refrigerator tubing) for your particular dipstick tube configuration.
  • Does anyone have a source and part number for one that will fit an 08 cummins ISC?
I really need to put one on when I change oil in the spring, but it seems the only way that works is if it was in my hand when the oil drains out..

If someoneknows for sure what thread size the plug is, that's really all that is needed..

qwikvalve.com will have all the specs. The Fumoto is and will be on every vehicle I own.
  • They are neat until you damage one thats installed!...:E

The oil for the engine will be gone before you know it. None for me thank you!
  • It's also very easy to install it, even if you don't need to change the oil. Just hook your shopvac up to the oil fill on the engine with the engine cold. Turn on the vac and replace the oil drain plug with the valve. You woon't spill a drop. I have a Fumoto on every vehicle I own, including the ISL in my Beaver.
  • I've been using them for probably 35 years on all the vehicles I've owned.

Never had a problem with them. Sure makes changing oil simple.
  • Here's a question for all of you that use the Fumoto. My Cummins has a pretty strong magnet in the original oil plug, and the Fumoto has none. While my engine never has any debris on the magnet, I wonder if it's not a good idea to have it in use in case something starts to go awry.

I've used the Fumoto for a number of years, but am not altogether comfortable with not having a magnet in the system. I wish Fumoto had a valve with the magnet installed..!
