This is the Class B forum, examples like the View are Class C's.
Show me a Class B up-fitter that offers
a diesel gen-set. If you don't know the difference between a small Class C and a Class B do a search on this forum.

The problem with the Onan diesel genset is I believe it is about 2-1/2" deeper than a propane generator. It may not be impossible but it could hang down terribly low as I think the propane generator is already one of the underhanging low points. The 4x4 Sprinters are going to be 3-4" higher so maybe then diesel would make more sense. I do know of one T1N model DIY Sprinter that has a diesel generator.

I don't know if Advanced RV has ever installed a diesel generator. I don't recall them ever saying so.

advanced is just 1 that will do it.

Its an option on many of these units, but not many seem to go for it.

IF you need or want to run house air a lot then it becomes worth it quickly.

The propane diesel scenario is one Ive been down and it becomes a use case scenario- my parents just go from campground to campground with no more than a day or so of boon docking.

I boondocks for 3-5 days as a normal course of taking a trip.

I originally thought propane wold be fine in my class A but my usage turned out different- so I upgraded.

I wont be going back to gasoline or propane - ever.

$6,000 not installed, and 260 lbs. A lot of money, and giving up 160 lbs of CCC.

We've had both gas & diesel motorhomes. 2 diesel Sprinters, 1 C & 1 B, and one gas Chevrolet class B.
If I had my choice in engines I'd do the gas, but most of the B's available that are on the larger size are diesel, so in our case it's diesel, which currently means the Sprinter.

Phoenix Cruiser was mentioned earlier. They are well known for their high quality interiors, and ability to do things for the buyer that is not in their "regular" floor plans, such as moving a cabinet here or there, or different cabinet doors or drawers, or adding outlets both 12v and 120v. Things such as that. They will even build on the 450 chassis if the buyer wants it rather than their normal 350, (don't know about the 2100).

Ultimately you should worry more about the interior and layout, your comfort while inside and driving, rather than what engine type it has.

Those that mentioned the Transit. They are out now and selling like hotcakes from early reports. No RV's as of yet though. Maybe a year out??

Generally you get an LP generator on a B van. The diesels are too big to fit under the van.

With the exception of the now discontinued Honda EVseries.

The water cooled single and variable RPM based gensets are what allow affordable luxurious and affordable power on the go or boon docked.

The maintenance schedules and expected lifespans are orders of magnitude better, and you can often find very low hour units for 4-5K.

They use so little fuel and are so quiet and powerful there simply is nothing in the gasoline world that comes close.

Maybe, it depends. The Chevrolet Express Van B has more horsepower at 10,000 feet than a Sprinter, but you can't use it indefinitely driving up a very long steep grade on the interstate (not a lot of them). You have to slow down while the Sprinter drives by because the cooling system won't keep up with the heat.
