Generac 7.5 KW repair

I am looking for a place in the Seattle- Tacoma area to get the power board on my diesel gennie repaired. The gennie has been starting ok lately, but for a long time wasn't getting any juice to the MH. Now the last few times I've run it, the volt meter I have in an outlet shows 120-130 volts, but as soon as you start either the convection oven or the micro wave they shut down after a moment. It will run both A/Cs but barely and so I shut them down. My guy says that I should take it in 'cuz that's something he doesn't want to mess with.
  • The gennie itself runs good. It's the electrical power output that's bad. The other day I started it up and ran it for about 5 minutes and then after seeing it was putting out over 120 watts at the 50 amp input, I started up the convection oven and inside of 30 seconds, the power on the gauge dropped to under 100 watts and the oven shutoff. I then put a cup of water in a glass and started the micro and that lasted enuff time to let out a groan and drpped off.Sooo, i lowered the temp on the ACs and fired them up, nothing. Dropped the front AC off line and the rear one came on. Reversed them and the front wouldn't come on. turned it off and let the gennie run for a bit and shut it down. Plugged the shorepower back in and set the input to 20 amps and the front AC came on. ??? shut it off and started the rear one on and it ran ????
  • If it runs OK until big load put on it, before taking it in for repair, I would change the fuel filter. A clogged filter will give those symptoms. Sure, it could be something else, but this is an inexpensive easy thing to do.
  • Thanks for the info, the better 1/2 wants to head for Portland and Woodburn next month, so I may try to get hold of him them.
Gotta get the toad repaired where the tow bar pulled out and messed up the front end and bent the tow bar all to heck and then get the new tow bar installed before we head out tho..

The link above is for Alternative Power out of Oregon City, OR They fixed my generator and provided service well beyond what others have done. The tech Jessie will take the time and get it diagnosed for you. I was 40 miles into the boondocks and he did the service call and diagnostics at a very reasonable price. Also worked with the extended warranty company to, Good Sam
