generator woes

went to run the generator for the monthly visit, and won't start, finally figured out blown fuse... replaced fuse and now it will crank but won't run... thought might me a plugged fuel filter, when I took out off the filter, fuel just ran out and would not stop until I removed the fuse to stop the pump from running,, it appears to be getting too much fuel as the primer will not stop. anyone have any thoughts before I pay a tech $90 hr ??

Start with the basics first. What genset do you have? Sounds like you are getting fuel. Are you getting a good spark? Is the battery/starter turning the engine over fast enough to start?
  • I believe the pump will stop until it builds up enough pressure. An open fuel line will not allow it to build up any pressure.
Try hooking everything back up and then see if the pump stops.
Try using your BOOST switch when you start the generator.
  • I should have said the generator is a diesel quiet pac ,
and no the pump sounds like it still runs. would a bad remote switch cause this??
  • I just have a question, wheres all that fuel going? is your crank case full of fuel?
