Why are they so rare? When we race, we may be there all weekend with no access to electricity. With the propane generator on my coach, I can run maybe 48 hours. So we need to fill in with a portable generator from the trailer. Why is is so rare to find 30A 110 generators? Their ratings should be plenty to support it. Even 50A should be possible with a lot of the larger ones. But we are forced to adapt down to a 15A outlet...20 at the most. Is this something that can be added to a generator? I'm not sure how generators are wired. There are probably more than one 120V leg, which would make it impossible to get the higher amperage at 120V output. You would only get the rated watt output with 220V output. Just rambling my way through the question.

They are not rare as I can see a 30A twist lock outlet on this one. and this one and this one. Granted you have to make up an adapter from the twist lock plug to the 30A RV plug. Oop's, you can even buy that now not like 30 years ago when I have to make my own.

Tractor supply handles a champion line, like wise for camping world. I have a 4000/3500 bought it 3 yrs ago has 30 and 30 camping plug plus 220v/plug use it for racing karts/dirt bikes.

What size gen do you have?If the generator is less than 3500 watts, it cannot produce 30 amps of power.

I did buy a Champion Inverter 3100. On sale at Farm and Fleet for $750. Not the remote start. I like it so far. Keeping my old generator for outages with the 220V output.

I looked it up again and the one I see now does have the 220v twist lock. Pretty nice.

My Champion C46540 has a 240VAC outlet, as well as the 120 VAC 30 amp RV outlet, a 120 VAC 20 amp outlet, and a 12VDC 10 amp outlet. Of course, 3500 watts at 240 volts is only about 14.5 amps.

3500 watts is not much power for running a house, but it will run refrigerator, blower on furnace, and a few lights.

I think that is exactly what I am going to do, although it may take a couple 20 or 30 pounders to make it through a long racing weekend. And those cylinders are not cheap either, but less than a generator.

The Champion is nice but not perfect. No 220V outlet on it. It seems to be a true 110V generator. That makes it less attractive for me because I cannot run my house on it if needed.

If you don't mind spending a little extra money, in my opinion the best way to go is with two of the Honda 2000 watt generators and then get the 30 amp adapter that goes with them. That way when you don't need to run the AC's you only need one generator running and when you need the extra power you can rum both. And each generator can easily be lifted by one person and put away in storage or the back of the truck. The 4000 watt an above single generators are pretty heavy if you need to move them around.

I think it would be a lot cheaper and easier to supplement your propane with either an extend a stay fitting or have someone add a valve for 20lb tanks to your existing generator.

The Champion C46540 that I mentioned above is not only cheap, it has a reputation for being dependable and long lasting. While not as quiet as a Honda or Yamaha, it is much quieter than the common construction site generators.

I did see that Sam's has one with an RV outlet on it as well. Pretty cheap little generator. not sure if it is any good, but cheap for sure.

30 amp outlets (usually twist lock) are common on generators 3,000 watts and above.. On 2,000 the Honda EU-2000i-COMPANION has one.

But they are rare on <3000 watt generators (that means less than if you majored in math) because..... they are not needed.

You can get either the pull start model
Or the new one with remote electric start
Got mine from SuperGen , I even got their external tank kit mod, I'm very happy with it
Their are other generators out their with RV outlets them
You might not find them at Your Local store, but they are not hard to find
