push your gen button down(prime) 3 times quick and it should blink the last code you had
My oil and air filter is new, I do this at spring time every year, no mouse nest its all clean, when it does shut down and its not often just at the peak of the hottest part of a day above 95 degrees I check under the cover and its hot and I mean hot, I do keep my oil near the max mark but I cant see how this will cause more heat in the motor.
Will have to check next time it shuts down to see what lights blink on the switch, however it runs fine and smooth but just hates the heat. - 10forty2ExplorerPut a fan in the compartment or under it to blow across the genset and that should circulate enough air to keep it below the high temp shut down. If it continues to be a problem, then you might want to add a more permanent fan that is wired to come on automatically whenever you run the genset.
- 427435ExplorerYou may want to do something to extend your exhaust system.
At the risk of taking this thread off subject, I would recommend a good synthetic oil if it has a tendency to run hot. - timmacExplorer

I vote for the mouse nest.....Get down and look at the screen where the cooling air exits. You may find sticks, leaves and maybe dry mouse parts. Not easy to clear out. Been there, done that.
Good Luck.
Been there and done that, its very clean under the genny, I think it just gets poor air circulation and I think the exhaust being close to the cold air intake does not help, they don't put a lot of science into these RV's when they build them, maybe I will try a fan at 1st to see if it works than if it does than time to reengineer the air intake and exhaust pipe. - GPWayneExplorerI vote for the mouse nest.....Get down and look at the screen where the cooling air exits. Good Luck. - DownTheAvenueExplorerIt may be a function of its installation that some minimal airflow is restricted, and it is no issue until you reach those very high temperatures. The simplest fix would be to buy a cheap fan and let it blow onto the generator. It will draw very little electricity and possibly solve the problem on those rare times when the temperatures are so high.

Both times there was a little to much oil. Check the dip stick, if it is even a little over the full line, drain a small amount off and see if that takes care of the problem.
Also, check what the code is. It will be the red light on the start button on the generator. You should have a manual for the generator and there is a place that will tell you what the blinking lights mean. - Teacher_s_PetExplorerAre you getting the "service soon" code flashes on the inside start switch?
