I had what could have been a catastrophic failure. My Onan/Cummins 4000 genset comes with a plastic dipstick ( as I am sure most of them do). Anyway, has anyone had issues with the threads stripping? ...

Just consider your good luck it was the plastic threads that are messed up. :)
