Gentle jack retract?

prism, as doug stated, the velocity valves are part of the leveling system that some manufacturers chose not to install because of cost. it is offered to all, but it is not up to hwh to dictate what parts a manufacturer chooses to use or not. just as we cannot dictate which leveling system any of them use.
any part added to a coach cost money, nothing is free. most mid line and high line coaches have these valves.
note, i said most, not all.
doug may have misread the op post, but hes still right about the velocity valves.

If you read his post correctly, you would realize he has MANUAL levers, NOT a touch pad system. Regardless, you do NOT have to "tap" the Touch pad type system. If the retraction rate is too severe for you, install the Velocity valves. Doug

doug is right, the velocity valves will solve the problem. be sure to install all four.
the front jacks seems to drop faster than the rear, only because they are programmed to retract first, about two seconds before the rear start, and many people dont like that dropping feeling. the valves wont slow the extension, just the retraction.

Yes, it is normal. HWH offers Velocity valves that slow the fluid to prevent sudden dropping. Doug

One of the first improvements I made to my bus was to order the velocity control valves from HWH. They were fairly easy to install but would depend on access to the reservoir/pump area. It works great and does not slow down the storing process by any noticable amount and completely eliminates the sudden drop experienced at the beginning of the store cycle.

Mine as originally equipted came down very suddenly and was not a pleasant experience. We don't hear this complaint often from owners, so I thought that the HWH had corrected this issue for later versions of the levelers.

Velocity valves are standard on some systems and I believe it is up to the OEM to specify if they want them. It adds a cost to the system. HWH sells the Velocity valves for about $125 for all 4. Doug

My Power Gear jacks do the same thing. I think that's a great tip about making sure the air bags are fully inflated.
