I would replace all the batteries, change all the fluids in the drive train, the coolant/antifreeze, have the reefer and A/C checked out, have the propane tank (if you have one) tested and certified.

Optionally, you might want to change all the lighting to LED.

Sounds like a fun project to me.

“Remodel” as in updating the inside looks or as in a new layout? Any rain/snow damage? Check roof carefully. Change all fluids IMO.

Before dumping any money into refer,a/c, propane tank and LED lights I would make make sure bearings and all hoses are ok and change fluids a you said. Tires and batteries for sure.
I once let my old gas 1994 PaceArrow sit for almost two years without starting or using.
When we had time to use again it started right up and we took off without a single issue.

Assume all fluids and filters for the engine and generator need replacing. Don't forget the transmission and differential. Also chassis lube including bearings. Tires and belts you already mentioned.

On my 40' diesel pusher including tires this would cost under $8000; possibly as low as $5000 (6 tires are a BIG part of that) but probably more like $6k-$7k. However if that is what it costs you to get a motorhome you are doing well!

Having done all that you now have a known baseline for future maintenance.

Before dumping any money into your project I would check the oil and other fluids (top off as needed), then use jumper cables to see if it will start and move.
Check the air filter for signs of something living in the intake system.

drop the gas tank and have it cleaned, new fuel pump, after all the years unless its a diesel the fuel will not even burn in a lawnmower. see if you can get it running and go from there, check all the pulleys and make sure they all turn freely (except for the drive off the balancer it wont turn by hand) seen many alternator seize up and ac compressors.

Is the rig still in the campground? Most campgrounds have rules against doing any type of major (obvious) maintenance at the campground.

Crazy idea here, but you might get an estimate for how much it would cost to tow it to your home so you can work on it at your own leisure and not have to worry about additional breakdowns along the way? I know that’ll probably be pretty expensive, but depending upon how far the trip is (where in Indiana and where in Ohio?), it might be worth the peace of mind.

Has anyone lived in it during these past years? If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out to make sure there is no water damage inside. If there is, it might be best to just scrap it. Sad, but true. Extensive water damage can spell the death of a rig.

If the fuel tank was left below full, there is a good chance that you have rust in the tank that will break loose and clog the entire fuel system. Either you replace the tank or you install an inline fuel filter designed for a fuel injection engine that can catch the very fine rust particles.
I think fuel is going to be your biggest issue.

I agree with the others, a lot of rot can happen in 7 years, step one is to evaluate the condition, before ever considering putting money into it or moving it.

I agree with Rick Jay, if the roof is totaled there's no point in anything else unless you want to spend extreme money.
