Going from a ventless to vented W/D???

We currently have an older Splendide (6190 model) that is backed up to an inside wall thereby requiring a non-vented model. It works just fine but, as others have noted, the drying is compromised and the water consumption is higher.

Has anyone had success in finding a new model combo unit that can be vented out the side rather than directly out the back. Alternatively are new models more efficient that the older design?

Thanks for any input.....However not interested in seeing vented vs non-vented comments since I already know the limitations.
  • There are two problems with venting straight down, first I would be hesitant about venting the dryer into my bay, secondly if I had the room behind the W/D to install a 90 degree vent line I could just go out the side.

I've never seen the innards of the machine, is there room inside the cabinet to change the vent direction??
  • I think he means that the vent connects to the side of the W/D not the back of the unit...
  • Have seen them vented straight down. If you could do that any vented model will work.
