Goodyear RV 670 vs Michelin XZE

Goodyear RV 670 vs Michelin XZE. Getting ready to put some new tires on before a trip next month. Michelins are about 50.00 per tire cheaper than the Goodyears which were 580 each. I have Goodyear 169 on the back now and XZE s on the front which are only only a few years old but have some cracking to them. The Goodyears are supposed to have the UV protection to them. Any thoughts or comments ?

The GY 670's are one of the BEST tires ever made.

I've had Goodyears on my last two coaches...G670s. They showed very little wear and performed flawlessly. I believe you reap what you sow.

Put 'tires' in the search box above and check out the "opinions" of a lot of folks on here. Many seem to think they know more than the engineers that design and build them.

I've maintained my tires per the manufactures instructions including PSI, balancing etc. It is my belief that because of this, my tires have performed as they were designed. I run G670s on my drive and tag axle with Michelins on the steer. Michelins because Goodyear does not make a 315/80/22.5 tire.

Goodyear and Michelin are the only two manufacturers who specifically make an RV tire. The others are TRUCK tires. I would consider putting truck tires on a truck if I had one, but I have an RV....just sayin....

    Good luck with your decision....Dennis

Man that sounds way too expensive. There are allot of other great options out there. I just replaced my Good Years with Hankook AH11`s for $275 per tire (Mine uses 245/70R 19.5)

I just had a tire dealer that sells Hankooks tell me that they quit making AH11's and nobody in our area, the Rio Grande Valley, has them. Wonder if he was being truthful? Besides, if the OP is spending over $500 a tire he is probably talking about 22.5" tires. There's a lot more rubber in those.
  • Google "Goodyear Florida Lawsuit" ! After you read that, ask yourself if you really want to spend a dime with Goodyear.
  • The GY 670's are one of the worst tires ever made. GY has some other tires that are decent but the 670's river and GY provides no warranty. I will never buy another GY tire! Google Goodyear 670 and rivering.

  • GY670s on rear. The fronts rivered badly and I changed to the Michelin steer tires.
The ride is much improved and it took only once ounce to balance one tie and none on the other, on a Road Force Balancer.
however the Michelins when wet turned brown. They have orange oil in the compound to suit the environmental crowd.
When is I see brown that says the rubber is deteroriating, on the surface.
The Michelin's life is 5 years. The GY670 is ten. However I've been told repeatedly on either or any they won't re install a five year old tire, on another vehicle.
If any of this is in error someone correct it. Thsi is my understanding.
  • I had GY for 8 years, felt I needed to replace them and went with Michelins simply due to price. I feel GY & Michelin are pretty much equal. Just my $0.02 worth.
  • First off I am a big fan of Goodyear tires. Both GoodYear & Michlin RV tires have an antioxidant for UV protection. What GY has extra is an antiozonant.

In the past 20 years I have had both GY and Michelin RV tires and happy with both. I would not pay $50 per tire more to get GY tires.
