- CT_WANDERERExplorerI replaced my front tires with Goodyear 19.5 truck tires. We did a 8,000 mile trip this past fall, winter. Seems to have worked good. I plan on changing out my rear tires this year. I am going to go with the truck tires. I have the steering tires installed. One thing I might do is check to see if there is any price difference in trailer or steering tires.
- Golden_HVACExplorerI would also go with Toyo with 19.5" or larger tires. That said, I have Goodyear and Michelin tires on my 97 Bounder class A.
I made the mistake of installing polyester sidewall tires on the back, because the 'Goodyear website said they are quiet, and run many miles'. However the softer sidewalls made the back end wiggle. This while towing our lightweight Honda CRV down a hill that we had done many times, and after changing back to steel sidewall Goodyear tires, it stopped wiggling.
I still have the front steel sidewall Goodyears, but have replaced the rear steel sidewall tires with Michelin tires again, same as the RIB tires that came from the factory. I run a 235/85R16E tire.
I would recommend Michelin tires for 16" use.
Good luck!
Fred. - IvylogExplorer IIIWould help if you gave us the size. In the larger 22.5's I've had good luck with Toyo, Hankook, and Firestone but all have been on fairly heavy DPs. A tire cannot tell the difference in a heavy truck or MH and I could not tell the difference in the Goodyears that came on one of them but would not stay balanced.
