Group 27 battery

If you are putting 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries back in. They will have both. Today you can get true deep cycle batteries. Last ones I looked at had only threaded studs.

I've found deep cycle usually have threaded studs and posts, but most starting batteries I have seen (and owned) only had posts. Except for my 95 caprice, it had side terminals that the cables screwed into. My group 31 deep cycle in the rv have top studs and top posts

My class C Winnie takes two group 24 deep cycle batteries, group 27 are larger will they fit in you battery area? Dick

Yes I have 2 N27s in there now, A little extra room but not enough for the next size up I believe; load capacity of the compartment is 250 pounds per Forest River.

Look at Sam's or Costco and consider using a pair of GC2s (golf cart batteries) in series. They real deep discharge and can tolerate a discharge to below 50%. Your 27s you have are marine dual purpose and they are not real deep cycle.

With so few battery manufacturers left it really has come down to price and warranty. All my vehicles (5) have AAA batteries, best price and warranty and they do the work for the

cost of a comparable Wally or other battery. Auto parts batteries are waaaay overpriced. Sears just isn't what it used to be. AAA is 3 years, they swap it out while I sit in the shade.

Now coach batteries I don't think they do them, just engine batteries.

If two N27s served him well before, why change. I wouldn't.
One disadvantage of using two six volt batteries is that if one fails, you no longer have any 12v power from your batteries. If you have two 12v batteries and one fails, you still have a 12v power supply with one battery.

Another advantage of a dual purpose 12V batteries is if you are boon docking and your TV battery craps out, you can take a 12v batter from you RV and put it in your TV.

Granted, dual purpose 12v batteries do not give you the long lasting power supply that two truly deep cycle 6V batteries will, but they give you more flexibility to improvise.

Are you sure that a couple of Group 31 12 volt batteries won't fit the battery storage area?

Group 31s are only longer than Group 27s .... not taller or deeper. Our Itasca (Winnebago) came with two Group 24s under the entrance step, but the battery box is way longer than a couple 24s, so we now have a couple of Group 31 12 volt batteries there. This gives us more capacity than two Group 27s.

We use a couple of true deep cycle 12 volt Group 31 batteries with only threaded studs on them.

The 2 batteries in the compartment are 12 inches long, 6 inches wide and 9.5 inches high at the top of the posts. I can probably get a 7 inch wide battery in but not much room for a wider or higher battery. Will look at the Group 31 dimensions.

Here's what I just put two of in the battery area under our step. The dimensions of these batteries are about the same as several other Group 31 batteries I've checked out ... so you just might be able to fit a couple of standard Group 31 batteries into your rig, instead of Group 27:
